The Thailand Renewable Energy Expo took place in Bangkok from July 2 to 4, with Sungrow FPV presenting its highly adaptable floating PV system solutions designed specifically for the local market. The display focused on how the system overcomes key technical hurdles associated with large reservoirs and lakes—especially long-fetch areas and challenging wind and wave conditions—demonstrating its superior performance in such environments.

In open water bodies, longer fetch distances lead to more significant wind-driven wave activity. By employing advanced hydraulic modeling tools and taking into account water depth and bathymetric features, the technical team calculated key wave parameters including height and period. This data-driven approach allows for the tailored design of tiered wave-resistance strategies that match the site-specific conditions.
Enhanced Edge Floats and Reinforced Structure Deliver 50% Higher Wave Resilience
For routine wind-wave conditions, the design features additional buoyancy at the array perimeter and strengthened structural components. This approach boosts buoyancy margins and enhances the system's overall wave resistance by 50%.
Tailored Floating Breakwater – Balancing Protection and Economy
For extreme wind-wave events, an innovative floating breakwater is installed on the wave-facing side. Paired with an elastic mooring system, it effectively disperses wave energy. The design is customized to meet site-specific wave reduction goals, effectively breaking down large swells to safeguard the PV area without compromising cost-efficiency.
Intelligent Monitoring and Ultra-Wide Walkways – Boosting Safety and Operational Efficiency
Operating in long-fetch areas often means low maintenance efficiency and difficult access. Sungrow FPV's system directly tackles these challenges with optional smart monitoring terminals that provide real-time anomaly alerts, enabling faster response times. Its industry-leading wide walkway supports two-person parallel work, making tool and equipment handling safer and more convenient. The ergonomically designed anti-slip surface ensures reliable footing during long maintenance routes and in high-humidity conditions.
Thailand has set targets to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065. Going forward, Sungrow FPV remains committed to the Thai market, earning customer confidence through proven, dependable technology and engineering excellence.
