On June 20, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg inspected the 69.3 MW floating solar project at the Batang Ai Hydropower Plant. The EPC contract for the project is held by China Energy Engineering Group Jiangsu Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (JSPDI), with representatives from State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), China Power International Development Limited, Sarawak Energy Berhad, and JSPDI accompanying the visit. The project utilizes Sungrow FPV's complete floating PV system solution and is expected to reach full-capacity grid connection by October.

Sungrow FPV carried out a thorough scientific evaluation and holistic system design for the project. At a site with water depths reaching up to 74 meters and challenging underwater terrain with steep elevation changes, the team applied geological and geotechnical data to strategically position anchor points and manage load limits, securing long-term anchoring stability. The floating PV system's cable channel stretches 1.5 kilometers. Throughout the engineering process, dynamic forces including wind, waves, currents, and fluctuating water levels were carefully considered to ensure a flexible cable routing design and strengthen the overall resilience against wind and wave impacts.

Premier Abang Johari conveyed strong optimism about the project, noting that it will substantially boost Sarawak's renewable energy output and help diversify the region's energy portfolio. He stressed that expanding green power supply would deliver tangible environmental protection benefits while driving sustainable economic growth for Sarawak. Beyond contributing to global sustainability objectives, the project is expected to have a direct, positive impact on the quality of life and social welfare of local communities.

As China and Malaysia celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations—and the "China-Malaysia Year of Friendship"—the Batang Ai floating solar project stands as a flagship example of bilateral cooperation in clean energy, establishing a strong groundwork for future green energy partnerships. Going forward, Sungrow FPV remains committed to the local market, actively supporting Malaysia's low-carbon energy goals. By harnessing its specialized strengths in floating PV, the company will help propel the region's energy transformation and contribute to a harmonious "symphony" of sustainable development.
